Altissmo
Altissmo is a climbing rose with stiff canes that reach 8 to 10 feet. The bloom color is red with yellow stamens and foliage is deep green and leathery. It has repeat bloom, blooming on both old and new wood. Blooms are large, single, and have 5 to 7 petals. Fragrance is reminiscent of cloves. This rose originated in 1966. It needs full sun and is heat tolerant, doing best in cool climates. Photograph courtesy of T. Treloar, Treloar Roses
