Music Scholarship
Established in 1979 using funds from ticket sales for the benefit of a deserving music student.
Criteria: Recipient must be a student in the Music Department who has demonstrated exceptional musical talent.

Marching Band Scholarship
Established in 1996, this endowment was funded with various gifts from alumni and friends of Colorado State University.
Criteria: This scholarship is open to any student who is a member of the marching band.

Roberta
and Clyde Abbett Music Scholarship
This endowed scholarship honors Roberta Abbett’s outstanding 28-year
teaching career in music programs in Weld County.
Criteria: Applicant must be a junior or senior
majoring in music who plans to pursue a career in music (either
teaching or performing),
be in good academic standing, and demonstrate financial need.

Irene
Binkley Vocal Music Scholarship
Established in 1976, this scholarship was established to honor Irene
Binkley. This award is made possible by contributions from friends
and the Irene Binkley Scholarship Trust.
Criteria: Applicant must be a senior with a declared
music major with emphasis in vocal music.

Walter
Charles Music Scholarship
Established in 1987, this endowed scholarship honors the memory
of Walter Charles, cellist and conductor who led the National Repertory Orchestra for eighteen years. The award is made possible
by a contribution from the estate of his late wife, Virginia F.
Charles.
Criteria: Recipient must demonstrate evidence of
studying strings and/or conducting in the Department of Music, Theatre,
and Dance.

Creative
and Performing Arts Award
These awards are distributed among students studying art, creative
writing, forensics, music, theatre, and dance.
Criteria: Applicant must demonstrate outstanding
talent in art, creative writing, forensics, music, theatre, or dance
and must maintain a minimum 2.4 GPA.

Drumline/Percussion Studio Scholarship
Established in 2004, this scholarship is for a percussion student.
Criteria: Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student in
Music, Theatre and Dance who is majoring in percussion and/or is
a percussionist member of an ensemble who has an overall GPA of
at least 2.5.

Jack
Curfman Creative and Visual Design Scholarship*
This scholarship was created to honor Jack Curfman, an internationally
recognized exhibition designer and CSU alumnus, who taught in the
Colleges of Liberal Arts and Applied Human Sciences for 50 years.
Criteria: Applicant must be a sophomore, junior,
senior, or graduate student majoring in apparel design, interior
design, graphic design, or theater design and technology who shows
creative promise and possesses a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Denver
Lyric Opera Guild Scholarship
Established in 1995 by the Denver Lyric Opera Guild, this award
is for an aspiring undergraduate vocal student.
Criteria: Recipient must be an undergraduate music
major with an emphasis in vocal music and maintain a cumulative
2.4 GPA.

Lucille
Boston Dickens Memorial Music Scholarship
Established in 1999, this endowed scholarship honors the memory
of Lucille Boston Dickens, one of the University’s first graduates in music. The award is made possible by donations from friends and
family members.
Criteria: Recipient must be a voice student enrolled
in the Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance; show exceptional
vocal talent; and maintain an overall 3.0 GPA.

Wendel
Diebel Memorial Scholarship*
Established in 1991, this scholarship honors Wendel Diebel, former
coordinator of CSU’s Keyboard Division. Funding for this award was
made possible by contributions from friends of the music program
who wanted to share their love of music through scholarship support.
Criteria: Applicant must be an undergraduate or
graduate keyboard student, an excellent performer, and maintain
a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Berniece
L. Echols Memorial Music Scholarship
This endowed scholarship was created in memory of Berniece Echols,
a CSU employee for 26-years, music lover, and teacher.
Criteria: Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate
student majoring in music, demonstrate outstanding musical talent,
and maintain a music major GPA of 3.0 and an overall GPA of at least
2.5.

Robert and Aretha Garretson Piano Scholarship
Established in 1997 with gifts from family and friends of Robert Garretson.
Criteria: Recipient may be an undergraduate or graduate piano student. Recipient must be a declared music major within the Music, Theatre & Dance Department who has exemplary, demonstrated talent in music.

Collins Music Club Scholarship
This scholarship is presented annually by the Fort Collins Music
Club.
Criteria: Recipient must be a resident of Larimer
County, demonstrate outstanding musical talent, and be a music major.

David
Paul Knight Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1989, this endowed scholarship honors the memory
of David Paul Knight, a music student at Colorado State. The award
is made possible by contributions from alumni, friends, and the
Knight family.
Criteria: Applicant must demonstrate a strong interest
in jazz music, interest in becoming a Music major, a GPA of at least
2.5, financial need, and participate in jazz ensembles or combos.

W. and Sarah M. Morris Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1965, this award honors the memory of David and Sarah
Morris and was made possible by contributions from friends, alumni,
faculty, staff, and the Morris family.
Criteria: Recipient must make outstanding contributions
in all areas of the Theatre Arts program. A slate of candidates
is selected by Theatre faculty members.

Page
Jones Richards Palmquist Families Scholarship
Established through the Page Jones Richards Foundation by Michael
Palmquist and Jessica Richards-Palmquist, this scholarship supports
students who express themselves through the creative and performing
arts and who share a commitment to service and scholarship.
Criteria: Applicant must be a major in the Department
of Art, Music, Theatre, and Dance, or English (with a writing or creative writing
concentration), maintain a 3.5 GPA, demonstrate academic excellence
as expressed through faculty support and a focus on service through
academic pursuits, and demonstrate financial need.

& L Sallee Music Scholarship
Established in 1992, this endowment was created by the E and L Sallee
estate.
Criteria: Recipient must be a full-time Music major,
maintain satisfactory progress in degree program, and demonstrate

and Marilou Smith Music Scholarship
Established in 2003 by friends and family of John Warren Smith, this
award celebrates his lifelong love and sharing of music.
Criteria: Recipient must be a Music major with an
overall G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher, who demonstrates talent in string
performance and dedication to future performance and the music profession.

Lionel Stubblefield Scholarship

John N. Stern Scholarship
Established in 1982 with proceeds from a gift of land from John N. Stern.
Criteria: Recipient must be enrolled in the Music program, have exceptional music talent; preference shall be given to a student who performs in strings.

Thelonious Scholarship*
Established with generous gifts from friends of the college.
Criteria: Recipient may be an undergraduate or graduate full-time student and must be enrolled in the Music, Theater & Dance program. Recipient must participate in the CSU Jazz Ensemble/Combo. Minimum 2.5 GPA.
